Emergence Beginner Lessons Take a Summer Break, But the Emergence Blues Labs Are Still Hot!
Blues labs happen on the last Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. at Emergence Community Arts Collective.
Greetings from the Emergence Blues Dance team! As of April 30, 2016, Alissa Perman transitioned the role of lead organizer to Jonathan “Hendo” Henderson. Jonathan will now handle organizer duties for Emergence Blues.
The Emergence Blues Dance class series is taking a summer hiatus. April’s Switch Dance series was the last series of classes, and with its conclusion, weekly classes are postponed from May-August.
During the class break, we will continue the Intermediate/Advanced Blues Lab on the last Wednesday of every month. The Blues Lab will follow the same class time from 8 to 9 p.m. It’s only a suggested donation of $2-5 (cash only, please), and you don’t need to bring a partner. Shoes that slide (or socks) recommended. The labs are still held at Emergence Community Arts Collective, located at 733 Euclid Street NW (right off Georgia Ave, next to Howard University).
Regardless of the break in classes, there’s a great dance at Angles Bar in Adams Morgan every Wednesday night, so you can practice all your sweet moves and make some new friends. It’s a very informal affair with no cover charge, and dancers usually get into full swing between 9 and 10 p.m.
