Picnics and Food

Late Night Snacks

In between main dances and late nights on Friday and Saturday, we’ll offer snacks to graze on.

Afternoon Events

Attendance at the afternoon events is free and open to all, but we need an estimate of how many people will be eating the catered meal. Reserve a free meal ticket (included with your weekend pass!), or add a paid plus-one ticket for a friend or family member who’s not attending the whole weekend but wants to eat BBQ with us!

Don’t forget a water bottle, sunscreen, and anything else that makes you happy: picnic blanket and chairs, ukulele, frisbee, your cute dog, board games, etc.

See the Schedule for picnic times and addresses.

Saturday, May 23 Cookout & Sides Competition

Get ready for a fun, outdoor cookout with the Capital Blues organizers! This is going to be reminiscent of neighborhood cookouts and will be a great way to hang out, get to know your fellow attendees, and enjoy the weather.

We’ll be grilling up burgers, hot dogs, and black bean burgers with all the fixins’. (If you want a different vegan/veg option, we’re happy to grill it up for you! We’ll have a designated cast iron for vegan options.)

Sound like a flimsy menu to kick things off?  That’s why we need your help. We’re hosting a Sides Competition!

Bring a casserole, medium crockpot, 10″x5″ pan or similar of your standout cookout dish, and get $20 per dish up to a max of $40!

Cookout is free to attend, and this year food is included in your weekend pass!

Sunday, May 24 Catered BBQ & Blues Jam

Included with your weekend pass this year, enjoy a catered BBQ picnic from 2Fifty Texas BBQ! Get ready for a mouthwatering spread of chopped brisket, pulled pork and BBQ chicken. No need for a sides competition today because the BBQ will be joined by cornbread, mac n’ cheese, coleslaw, and (vegan) fire roasted veggies! Lastly, for our vegan friends, we’ll also have the Federalist Pig tofu burnt ends everybody’s favorite banana pudding!

Plus, we’ll have a very special live blues jam with musicians from the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation. Music lovers, you’re invited to bring an instrument/your voice and join!
