Late Night Snacks
In between main dances and late nights on Friday and Saturday, we’ll offer snacks to graze on.
Saturday, May 24 Cookout & Sides Competition
There’s still time to grab a picnic pass for Saturday!!
Get ready for a fun, outdoor cookout with the Capital Blues organizers! This is going to be reminiscent of neighborhood cookouts and will be a great way to hang out, get to know your fellow attendees, and enjoy the weather.
We’ll be grilling up burgers, hot dogs, and black bean burgers with all the fixins’. (If you want a different vegan/veg option, we’re happy to grill it up for you! We’ll have a designated cast iron for vegan options.)
Sound like a flimsy menu to kick things off? That’s why we need your help. We’re hosting a Sides Competition!
Bring a casserole, medium crockpot, 10″x5″ pan or similar of your standout cookout dish, and get back $20 per dish up to a max of $40!
Cookout is free to attend, $20 (via online registration) to be fed, or get the $20 refunded by bringing a side!
Sunday, May 25 Catered BBQ & Blues Jam
If you ordered a picnic pass, enjoy a catered BBQ picnic from 2Fifty Texas BBQ!!! Get ready for an ABSOLUTELY mouthwatering spread of chopped brisket, pulled pork and BBQ chicken. No need for a sides competition today because the BBQ will be joined by cornbread, mac n’ cheese, coleslaw, and (vegan) fire roasted veggies! Lastly, worry not vegan friends, we also have the Federalist Pig tofu burnt ends making a return from last year, plus everybody’s favorite banana pudding!
Plus, we’ll have a very special live blues jam with musicians from the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation. Music lovers, you’re invited to bring an instrument/your voice and join!
Monday, May 26 Wrap Party
Bring your own food, and we’ll bring any leftovers from the previous days!
How to attend picnics
Attendance at the picnics is free and open to all, but the food provided by Capital Blues will be limited, so be sure to snag a picnic pass (only Saturday is available now) if you want to receive a prepared meal. You are also welcome to bring your own food and hang out.
Don’t forget a water bottle, sunscreen, and anything else that makes you happy: picnic blanket and chairs, ukulele, frisbee, your cute dog, board games, etc.
See the Schedule for picnic times and addresses.
Special Dietary Needs
All catered meals will include vegan and vegetarian options! Have an allergy or another food-related concern? Email us at capitalblues.info@gmail.com.
